1. Configuring DirectLogic PLCs in DirectSoft Software
1. Launch DirectSOFT programming software.
2. Click the New Link icon to start the Link Wizard.
3. Select the COM port that is connected to the PLC, then click Next.
4. Select your PLC family type. For example, since I am using DirectLOGIC 205 DL-240CPU, therefore I choose 105/205/405 Family. If you are unsure, but know the communications protocol it uses, select **Not Sure** from the list.
5. Select the communication protocol and PLC address. In this example I am going to use K Sequence protocol and PLC address 1 since this is the only PLC I am using. Click Next to connect to the PLC.
6. DirectSOFT will attempt to establish communication and configure PLC settings appropriately.
7. After auto-configuration is completed, enter a name to the Link Name field, which can be any string. The Link Description field is optional. Write down the configuration settings for future references. Verify settings and click Finish after you are done, or you can go back and change any settings as necessary.
8. Now you should be able to see the new link on the Launch screen. Make sure the LED is green. If it is red, then there is a problem.
9. Double-click the new link to launch DirectSOFT programming window to create and/or monitor the Ladder Logic program stored in the PLC memory.
10. To view the Setup Secondary Communications Port configuration, selectPLC >> Setup >> Setup Sec. Comm Port.
To view I/O Configuration, select PLC >> Configure I/O.
2. Click the New Link icon to start the Link Wizard.

2. Configuring DirectLogic PLCs in Lookout and Lookout Protocol Drivers
1. Close DirectSOFT and any other software currently communicating with the PLC, and start Lookout or Lookout Protocol Drivers.
2. Create a new object by selecting Object >> Create.
3. Select the DL205 or the DL405 object, depending on the type of your PLC.
4. Clone all settings from DirectSOFT. For more information about configuring the PLC using Lower port (n) protocol, refer to the KnowledgeBase entry regarding this matter.
By now, the PLC should have been configured in Lookout or Lookout Protocol Drivers and you should be able to access the PLC registers.
Both Lookout and Lookout Protocol Drivers are OPC Servers, therefore you can connect to both of them from any OPC Client, such as ServerExplorer and LabVIEW. For an example of using ServerExplorer and LabVIEW, refer to Connecting ServerExplorer to Lookout.
For more information about the DirectLogic object data members, refer to the Lookout Help.
